Causes and help, kept on one shelf

People over profit, humanity over hate. This shelf grows over time.

Voting

The main event right now is the 2026 midterms: Election Day is Tuesday, November 3, 2026, and everything in this section is aimed at that day first. Start with the first link: enter your address and it shows your ballot, your polling place, and its hours. After this election passes, this shelf stays up and re-aims at the next one, local, state, or federal.

  • VOTE411 — the League of Women Voters' nonpartisan guide. Enter your address for your personalized ballot, your polling place, and a registration check.
  • Vote.gov — the official U.S. government portal: register to vote, check your registration, and see your state's deadlines and rules.
  • Can I Vote — the official state-by-state registration lookup from the National Association of Secretaries of State.
  • FVAP — voting help for military members and Americans living overseas.

If you are turned away at the polls, told you cannot vote, or intimidated: you have the right to ask for a provisional ballot, and federal law backs the ask. For help on the spot, call the Election Protection hotline at 866-OUR-VOTE (866-687-8683). Stay calm, stay in line, and make them tell you no on the record.

Palestine

  • UNRWA — the UN agency for Palestine refugees; donations fund food, shelter, and medical care in Gaza and across the region.
  • Palestine Children's Relief Fund — medical care and treatment for injured and ill children.

Ukraine

  • Razom for Ukraine — emergency response, medical supplies, and support for Ukrainians since 2014.
  • United24 — the official Ukrainian fundraising platform: defense, medical aid, and rebuilding.

Congo and Sudan

LGBTQ+ support

  • The Trevor Project — crisis support and suicide prevention for LGBTQ+ young people, 24/7.
  • Trans Lifeline — a peer support hotline run by and for trans people.

Immigrant rights

  • ACLU — legal defense of civil rights and liberties, including immigrants' rights.
  • United We Dream — the largest immigrant youth-led network in the United States; know-your-rights resources included.
